Had an appetite for soap this week and looked through my library to find shadowy, sensual figures waiting to be illuminated.

Watched Nosferatu at the movies, and rushed home to make these studies. I absolutely love the texture of soap bubbles! They almost become volcanic in nature on the surface, or blistered skin- you can soften their edges with an airbrush or harden them with a strong light.

I also tried a quick exercise inspired by a demon from The Compendium Of Demonology and Magic (ca. 1775)

If you are looking for shapes to play around with, I have a library of soap bubble textures here. They are free to download and play.
Last year I made a few animation exercises over a lightbox-I think these bring out the nature of soap bubbles- as an eye of water.
